The temple bell stops
but I still hear the sound
coming out of the flowers.
Whenever I see tree roots erupting out of concrete, or wild flowers growing in a vacant lot next to a dingy warehouse, I smile. It reminds me that man can destroy the world, but not the Earth. Years after we have gone and everything has forgotten the peculiar experiment that was mankind, the waves will still roll onto the beach, the autumn leaves fall softly to the ground, and the bird call to his friend through the still morning air.
